When you go BACK TO THE REAL WORLD you may want to enlist some more team members. Try the same evolution of roles tactics so you don't appear to be imposing - suggest a new twist to what is most natural to people's natures and/or job functions.
Most people are interested in doing something innovative. Tackling a new frontier, a new method of storytelling. Give your associates a new sense of their roles and they will be engaged. Most will be receptive because everyone likes to play. You involve them and they'll be your greatest allies and proponents of the work. They'll help you make these projects a more common occurrence - not the rare and elusive choice assignment.
Most of your battles will be won with the proverbial proof in the pudding - now you'll have one. Sell Sell Sell!!

when you are out interviewing or gathering your research...
...take a video camera or at least an audio recorder. Think sound bytes like you think bullet points. Think environmental sound like you think page design. Think testimonials like you think interesting side bar/note.
when you know of past related stories and supporting facts...
... list stories, supporting facts or statistics that might engage/enlighten the reader. Sometimes these must be sacrificed due to space in print. Consider that there are times when this new medium can present progression and comparison in much more effective manner than the periodical medium of print. Take advantage of the shelf life.
EDITOR
